Four Pine-Richland High School students successfully auditioned for the PMEA District 1 Honors Band: senior Thomas DeVito, trumpet, juniors Ashlyn Casale, flute, and Ryan Noir, clarinet, and sophomore Alex Goss, trumpet. Nearly 700 students from Western Pennsylvania auditioned for the honors band festival that will be held in November at North Hills High School.

The Pine-Richland School Board approved two changes to the 2024-2025 Academic Calendar, including the addition of Monday, January 20, as a day off for students, and moving the day off scheduled for Monday, May 5, to Friday, May 2.

Senior Niharika Nadipalli recently spoke at a legislative briefing in Harrisburg. Nia, a member of the Phipps’ Youth Climate Advocacy Committee, spoke on October 2 about the effects of radon on youth in her effort to help pass Senate Bill 1328.

Last month, Custodian Mr. Joe Strobel was recognized for his heroic actions at a local restaurant when he successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on a choking diner. As part of his recognition, Mr. Strobel was interviewed by Mrs. Leticia Harshman's journalism class.

Pine-Richland School District celebrated Homecoming on Friday, September 27. Senior Tiffany Gathers was named Homecoming Queen, while senior Maura Sciullo was named first runner-up and senior Mackenzie Mercuri was named second runner-up.
