exterior of PRHS

Pine-Richland High School is located in Pine Township and is home to grades nine through 12.

With a focus on STEAM-related learning, the high school has strong programs in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.  Students consistently perform in the top tiers of standardized testing.

In 2025, U.S. News and World Report ranked Pine-Richland High School #2 in the Pittsburgh region and #8 in Pennsylvania, the top 1%. Pine-Richland High School also  earned AP Gold Honor Roll Recognition for the 2024-2025 school year. Only 7% of eligible schools nationwide, and only two other schools in Western Pennsylvania, earned this designation.

Pine-Richland High School was awarded reaccreditation by the Middle States Association through 2033 via their Sustaining Excellence protocol, a path reserved for high-performing schools committed to using internal research to drive continuous improvement. The reaccreditation plan is centered on a school-wide action research project designed to keep PRHS at the forefront of modern education. PRHS is implementing the new Pennsylvania STEELS standards (Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy, and Sustainability). By focusing on inquiry-based learning and phenomenon-based investigations, starting with a deep dive into the biology curriculum, PRHS is further ensuring that classroom experiences develop complex problem-solving skills necessary to navigate a rapidly changing world.
