Forensics Speech and Debate Team Takes 2nd in State Tournament
Eighteen Pine-Richland High School students competed in the annual Pennsylvania High School Speech League State Championships March 21-22, placing second in medium school sweepstakes. More than 550 students from 81 schools participated in prose, poetry, extemporaneous speech, news broadcasting, Lincoln-Douglas debate, public forum debate, and extemporaneous debate events.
Individual awards were earned by several students, including:
- Senior Thomas DeVito and junior Jiwon Lee, 2nd place, Public Forum Debate
- Junior Reese Lion, Top 8, Lincoln-Douglas Debate
- Junior Neil Kakkassery, Top 8, Extemporaneous Debate
- Ninth-grader Saanvi Santpure, 2nd place, Impromptu Speaking
- Ninth-grader Sonaya Arora, 5th place, Impromptu Speaking
- Junior Priya Shah and sophomore Bianka Roman, 4th place, News Broadcasting
- Junior Arrash Sheikh, 6th place, Extemporaneous Speech
- Sophomore Eshan Kazi, semifinals, Prose Reading
