JROTC Honored with Silver Star Community Service Award

AFJROTC cadets volunteer at Harvest Street Mission.

Pine-Richland/Mars Area Air Force JROTC was recently honored with the Silver Star Community Service with Excellence Award from AFJROTC Headquarters.

This award is given to the top 5% of units nationwide (approximately 45 annually) in recognition of exceptional service to their schools and communities.

Pine-Richland/Mars cadets accumulated 3,781 community service hours, an average of 39 hours per cadet.

As a whole, Air Force and Space Force JROTC cadets contributed over 1.6 million hours of community service.

AFJROTC cadets volunteer for the Honor Flight Pittsburgh, which recognizes American war veterans by taking them to Washington, D.C., to see their memorial at no cost to them.
