Pine-Richland seniors Abigail Fuller and Andrew Kirkpatrick earned the Outstanding Delegate Award at the Westminster College Model United Nations Tournament on Tuesday, April 14.

Abigail, the club’s treasurer, and Andrew, the club’s president, were recognized for their exceptional performance in the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference simulation, where they navigated complex economic issues related to international trade and post-war reconstruction.

Overall, eight Pine-Richland students represented the Dominican Republic across a variety of rigorous committees, demonstrating advanced diplomacy and critical thinking skills. The delegation also included seniors Brooke Deegan, Ava Guruacharya, and Nandor Vaiko; juniors Eva Bloom and Noah Ezolt; and sophomore Shaun Maini.

Students competed in pairs across multiple simulations. In General Assembly 1, delegates addressed the illicit trade of small arms and worked on solutions to improve global cybersecurity. General Assembly 6 focused on international law, including debates on the “Responsibility to Protect” and the implementation of the Law of the Sea. In the High-Level Political Forum, participants examined the intersection of poverty and climate change, along with the challenges of developing sustainable energy sources for artificial intelligence.
