Two Pine-Richland teams participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2025 Student Visionaries of the Year program in February and March.

Team Lightning, led by sophomore Owen Evans, and Team Cure Coalition, led by sophomores Sarah Puthenpurayil, Anya Wickard and Caitlin Baculik, raised over $48,000 combined in the seven-week fundraising challenge. Caitlin earned the Patient Education and Support Award for her focus on patient care.

Funds raised benefit the LLS mission to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. This year, 17 high school candidate teams in the Pittsburgh area raised $552,944.
