PRHS Earns Gold Status in 2025 AP School Honor Roll
Pine-Richland High School has been named to the 2025 AP School Honor Roll, earning Gold distinction for its commitment to college readiness and student success. It is one of only five other public high schools in western Pennsylvania to receive this honor.
This recognition, awarded by the College Board, highlights schools that excel in three critical areas: expanding college culture, assisting with college affordability through exam performance, and optimizing college readiness by encouraging early and sustained participation in Advanced Placement (AP) coursework.
To qualify for the Gold level, schools must meet rigorous benchmarks across all three metrics for their graduating class, which Pine-Richland achieved for the Class of 2025 and every year since the AP School Honor Roll began in 2023.
The school’s achievement is driven by strong performance across all evaluated metrics. Pine-Richland's College Culture reached 73%, exceeding the 65% Gold requirement with 274 out of 373 students in the graduating class experiencing at least one AP course.
Pine-Richland High School reached Platinum status—the highest possible level—in the remaining two categories:
- College Credit: 62% of students earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam, surpassing the 50% Platinum threshold and providing significant potential for college affordability.
- College Optimization: 17% of students took five or more AP Exams throughout high school, with at least one taken in 9th or 10th grade, exceeding the 15% Platinum target for maximizing student readiness without overloading them in their final years.
The 2025 Honor Roll represents roughly the top 30% of eligible high schools nationwide and reinforces Pine-Richland High School's dedication to providing students with a robust and accessible pathway to higher education.
