Sophomores Advance to States in National History Day Competition
Four Pine-Richland High School sophomores were selected to advance to the 2025 National History Day in Pennsylvania state competition.
Caroline Prisk, Bianka Roman, Ella Trygar and Janya Ullal will compete on April 12 and 13 at the University of Scranton. They were selected based on the success of their second-place senior division entry, Olympe De Gouges: Declaration of Humanities, in the National History Day Pittsburgh 2025 competition at the Heinz History Center on March 15-16. Students worked under the direction of GATE teacher Dr. Cyndi Poole.
National History Day draws upon a unique historical theme each year and encourages middle school and high school students to research history in an exciting and creative way.
Hundreds of students in grades 6-12 from Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Fayette, Westmoreland and Somerset counties participate annually in National History Day Pittsburgh. First-, second-, and third-place winners move on to the state competition. Top winners from the state competition move on to the national competition in June.
