Student Advocates for Radon Testing in Public Schools
Senior Niharika Nadipalli recently spoke at a legislative briefing in Harrisburg. Nia, a member of the Phipps’ Youth Climate Advocacy Committee, spoke on October 2 about the effects of radon on youth in her effort to help pass Senate Bill 1328. Senate Bill 1328 seeks to amend the Public School Code of 1949 to ensure regular radon testing in all of Pennsylvania’s public schools.
As a member of the Youth Climate Advocacy Committee through Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Nia collaborates with other high school and college students on climate change and environmental justice. Committee members work on environmental projects of their choice within the local community. Members also have opportunities to develop leadership and project planning skills and learn from experts.
Way to go, Nia!
