Students Awarded in Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest

Twelve students were awarded honorable mentions in the Pittsburgh Public Theater's annual Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest held February 13 at Pittsburgh Public Theater.

Seniors MacKenzie Dry-Henich and Grace Lennie were awarded for their scene from The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Ten students were recognized for monologues:

  • Jarah Casciani, 12, Othello
  • Elise Duckworth, 12, Hamlet
  • Aubrey Myers, 12, Richard III
  • Saf Cadenhead, 11, Romeo and Juliet
  • Aubrey Crist, 11, Twelfth Night
  • AJ Horrocks, 11, King Lear
  • Brenan Martin, 9, Macbeth
  • Pritha Mukherjee, 9, The Taming of the Shrew
  • Desolina Postreich, 9, A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Karly Trezza, 9, Macbeth

More than 1,000 students from 80 area schools participated in the Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest.

Pine-Richland High School students prepared for the competition in Mrs. Bruno's acting classes and also participated in a workshop with local actors Aaron Crutchfield and Anthony Sansonetti.
