Two Seniors Qualify for U.S. Presidential Scholars Program

Seniors Sanika Das and Deeya Nayyar have been identified as candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Being named a U.S. Presidential Scholar is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school seniors. Each year, up to 161 students are selected based on exceptional achievement in academics, the arts, or career and technical education.
Academic candidates are initially identified through outstanding SAT or ACT performance and are invited to complete a comprehensive application. Final selection is based on academic excellence, leadership, service, personal character, and school and community involvement.
While the program does not provide a monetary scholarship, selected students receive a presidential medallion and are honored through a national recognition program.
